Why you Should Avoid Parabens in your Shampoo & Conditioners

Why you Should Avoid Parabens in your Shampoo & Conditioners

The number one reason to avoid parabens, and why we have chosen to formulate all our products without them, is because they are easily absorbed through your skin and are harmful to your scalp and endocrine system.

They have the ability to mimic estrogen which can cause problems in the body when it comes to our cells and the communication between them. With too much estrogen, it can trigger an increase in breast cell division and tumour growth (this is how parabens have been found in breast cancer tumours).  That is enough to make us ensure they never pop up in our ingredient list!

Beyond the cellular issues, parabens can cause a number of problems for your hair; this includes drying, irritating the scalp, colour fading, and even hair loss.

Avoiding parabens and other potentially harmful chemicals such as phthalates, formaldehyde and sulfates is a step in the right direction for caring for your health.

Much like parabens, phthalates can contribute to hair loss because they can disrupt the hormones that function to regulate your hair cycle. They also can cause topical skin issues such as dermatitis, eczema and hair loss.

Thankfully with BORN Naturals, you never have to sacrifice your health for beauty. All our products are made without the use of sulfates, SLS, parabens, phthalates, silicones, and formaldehyde.
